Louisa May Alcott

Little Women is a beloved novel by Louisa May Alcott, first published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869. Set in New England during the United States Civil War, it explores the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—as they transition from childhood into womanhood.

THE AUTOR

Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) was an American author, best known for Little Women (1868), a beloved novel based on her own life with three sisters in New England, influenced by her family and strong feminist ideals. A teacher, abolitionist, and nurse during the Civil World, she wrote to support her family, creating strong, independent female characters like Jo March and becoming a pioneer of early feminist literature before her death in Boston.
